Evan and Ivor dropped us off at the airport, making sure we were all checked in before they went home for 5 days of man time. After a fairly smooth plane ride, eliot and I landed in Denver. With plenty of time for lunch and a little energy burning time we entertained ourselves playing "red light, green light" on the moving sidewalks. Eliot got unimaginably dirty, ending up looking like a little girl noone loves. After a thorough hand a face scrubbing we jumped back on the plane, finishing the air travel leg of our journey in Bismarck, ND.
Eliot is becoming seasoned traveler, and I am becoming seasoned with traveling with children. My list of absolutely essential items for the plane include:
* gum
* her cell phone
* books
* dvd player
* matchbox cars
* packing light, less is more for us
As usual the female flight attendants avoided us like the plague and the male flight attendants fawned all over Eliot, asking her all about Elephant and making sure she got her fair share of the drinks and snacks.
Eliot adored our fabulous shuttle driver Mike, who handled Elephant with great care when loading him into the van. When he inquired as to whether or not Elephant bites, eliot soberly nodded a "yes". She was delighted when he gave her an apple in the lobby and enjoyed it thoroughly, until she dropped it on the hotel room floor and it rolled behind the nightstand, resulting in my shrieking "don't touch it, don't touch it ever again!!!"
After a quick dinner at the local "McRock and Roll McDonalds" an overtired eliot flopped into bed with the kind of hyperactive energy only an exhausted toddler can muster up. After books and songs she still couldn't settle. Being the sneaky Mom that I am, I found the most boring, poorly filmed ballet ever on the TV and "let" her stay up to watch it. She was out in 5 minutes and I was left alone to enjoy some quiet time reading my book.

I would have to give Day One 5 out of 5 stars!
