Hi all,
After that last dismal post I thought I should make sure to let everyone know that the trip was totally worth it. We had an incredible time in California. We got to spend almost the entire trip with one of my absolute favorite friends on the planet, Jen (aka "superstar"). She leads a fabulous and interesting life, so it was a lot of fun hearing all about it and getting to see her world. We really miss having Jen here and wish she could be around eliot on a more day to day basis. We really valued the time we got to spend with her and were so glad to get to meet her boyfriend Jesse's family and see that she is being taken very good care of there!
LA was nice, very different from Seattle. eliot and I got small sunburns while Evan came home unscathed (I'm guessing due to his time in Puerto Rico). It was wonderful being in the warm sun, and I adore the tiny new freckles eliot has.
Jen and Jesse are the King and Queen of Disneyland (at least in our eyes) and gave us a world class tour. No standing in hour long lines on their watch! We had the best time at Disneyland and Eliot was in Heaven. Jen showed true friendship by spending the entire day there with us on Saturday maintaining a toddler friendly pace and avoiding all rides that included the word Terror in the title (really more for me than for eliot though!) eliot's favorite rides were the It's A Small World ride (I admit that I teared up quite a bit watching her enjoy it) and the Buzz Lightyear ride where she got to sit with Jen, shoot a ray gun, and spin the car they were riding in.
Eliot loved the characters at Disneyland, and seemed particularly enamored of Minnie Mouse. She got quite a few autographs in the little book Jen gave her. She loved waving at the animals and shouting HI to them, but didn't like it AT ALL when they took her little book and particularly when they took her pen. She did give one of them a high-5, I think it was Eyore but I'm not sure...
All in all, it was an incredible trip and I was sad to leave. eliot was a pain on the way home, but not nearly as bad as the way out. I'm thinking we're not going to visit Evan in Puerto Rico as I know I can't endure 12 hours of her spastic toddler antics on an airplane by myself. I figure we'll do it when she is old enough to stay home alone. I'm hoping that age is about 3. :)
Love to you all
I'll post some more disney photos when evan gets his film developed.
